Pushpa Narayanaswami is a neuromuscular neurologist and Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School/ Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA and Director, Quality Improvement, Department of Neurology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Bangalore Medical College, India in 1984. She completed neurology residency at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, India in 1991.  She moved to the US in 1995 and completed another neurology residency, followed by a fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, TN.

She is a clinician-educator and researcher with board certifications in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Disease. She is a member of the Guideline Development, Dissemination and Implementation sub-committee of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). She also serves on the AAN Practice Committee and is Vice-Chair of the AAN Government Relations Committee.  She has participated in the development of quality measures in peripheral neuropathy and muscular dystrophy.  She chairs the Quality Improvement committee of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). She is a member of the level of evidence team on the editorial board of Neurology and serves on the editorial board of the journal of clinical neuromuscular disease. Her broad area of research is in Health Services and includes dissemination and implementation research and other areas related to clinical practice guidelines
